Move it, Bucko!

This has been the thought of my mind for a bit so I decided what better way to celebrate my Fandom of Helga Pataki than to draw her via Hellboy style. ;)

Thus, making her 'HellGa Pataki' XD

Happy Birthday to me!

Hi folks! Long time no blogging! This whole month has been unfortunately busy for me due to MidTerms taking up my freetime-- as well as three more midterms underway. In the meantime, I would like to share with you some extra Comic Con art that I drew for my portfolio when I was preparing for Sunday's big event.

Hellboy
This has to be the third Hellboy drawing I've ever done. I really love the improvements here which are much better than the first two that I've drawn. The inking style really stands out.

Elmo Dollar
I really like this concept. I drew this sort of as a love letter to Elmo, From Sesame Street, who was at Comic Con at the Variant stage. I never got the chance to meet Kevin Clash, so unfortunately, I never got to show him. ;)

Rorschach Gizmo
Another retake of another favorite drawing I've done. I really loved the first time I drew Rorschach Gizmo last year, that I really wanted to preserve the idea and keep it in my portfolio, so I can demonstrate my inking ability.

Fundamentalist meets Trick O Treaters
This is actually for an upcoming Halloween issue, for an article that's being written by my friend, Brittany Wethrill. I decided for this to imitate some Tim Burton art, with a dash of Tex Avery. ;)

 Justin 'Hawkeye' Casey
Yes, Flying House fans-- another crossover between the Avengers and Flying House. Once again, all apart of my Superbook/Flying House meets Avengers fan art idea I've been dabbling with. I figured Justin and Angie would make a great pair for my portfolio.

Negaduck
And of course, I can't forget my early Disney Afternoon roots with shows like Darkwing Duck. After all, because James Silvani was gonna be there, I wanted to show him my Negaduck drawing. Unfortunately, he never had the chance to look at it because he was extremely busy at that moment. But he was extremely nice at the booth when I recapped with him. :)

Anyway, that's all I have to share. I hope to go more into detail on Comic Con as soon as the Midterms clear up.

Cheers!

last sketch of 2011/first sketch of 2012

Sesame Street sketchdump
Being that the year was coming to a close, I thought I'd experiment for a bit and doodle some of my favorite Sesame Street muppets. As you know, I'm a big Sesame Street fan. So I thought maybe when I have more downtime, I could draw the characters in my own style, rather than what was done to death over and over again.

Hellboy 2012 sketch
I can't say this is my first official sketch of the new year (being that I drew another Sesame Street doodle dump yesterday at a dinner), but it still counts for what it's worth.

Anyway, since I'm an HB lover, I thought I'd draw him again for old time sakes. But you know, something about this drawing of HB needs improvement-- the semi-gloss needs improvement, the hands need improvement, the pose needs improvement-- everything needs improvement.

But to give myself credit, I think it's a decent sketch to start off 2012. And speaking of 2012, I need to establish what my resolutions are gonna be. Expect that in my next blog post this week. ;)

More to come after the break (not Thanksgiving Break) XD

Well, here's another update to keep this blog in motion. I'm glad that I'm drawing more and more.

 Bone Sketchdump

For those who don't know, I have discovered the wonders of the Bone series by Jeff Smith. After reading it this summer, I felt inspired to improve my cartooning through the series. :)

Mike Mignola's Hellboy practice
This is my first attempt at working on some pages from the Hellboy 'Right Hand of Doom' comics. Mind you that it it has it's errors, but all in all, it's not bad. :) Mike Mignola's artwork really does inspire me to draw at my level but improve immensely.

One Shot Fanart
After recollecting with the Darkwing Duck comics that James Silvani has worked on, I realized how much I fell in love with One-Shot-- he totally reminded me Petey Pate from the Ralph Bakshi's Mighty Mouse cartoon series. I hope to draw more of him in the future. :)

Zombie Girl 2.0
Remember my zombie girl from last month's comic submission for the college paper? Well, I decided to drew her a better pose and fix her up a bit. I actually think this sketch is better than before. :)

Anyway, I hope to update this blog some more and share some more submissions for the college paper. :)

attack of the zombie sketches!!!

These past few days have been nothing but school business for me. I have been studying for exams, preparing essays, getting my assignments done and all sorts of nonsense. :P

Luckily, I was able to retain my sanity by drawing more zombies and experimenting with some styles through drawing Tony Moore's zombies. ;)

As you can see, after I copied some more zombies from the Walking Dead book, I attempted at drawing my own zombies which can be found on the right, both at the top and bottom corners.

Again, pretty much did the same process, but only managed to attempt at drawing one of my own ala sketch.

Here's where I attempt at redrawing a few to get a better handle on the zombies' shading and style. I'm even managed to get past the blood and guts part of drawing zombies. ;)

And of course, I wanted to expand on my appreciation for Mike Mignola that I had to draw some of his art. This was done Friday and Saturday when I found a cover to the latest Hellboy issue, The Fury. I have not read it yet, but after copying this cover, I must get my hands on it. :D

Also, as of this coming Friday, I am going to Comic Con NYC with my brother. I'm gonna be down there for a good chunk of the day and hopefully get in touch with some of my favorite artists and actors and writers and get their autographs. ;)

Catch you soon.
