zombies galore!!

For the Past week, I've trying to sketch nothing but zombies. To help me in my quest, I used the zombies from my Hard Cover edition of Walking Dead to help further my studies of zombies. Now that I have trained myself to get past blood and guts, I have started getting the hang of drawing people with blood and guts. :P

Two pictures below are studies from the walking dead comics that Tony Moore has illustrated. Personally, I like Tony Moore's art better because it shows a more grusomier look to the zombies. While the Charlie Adlard fellow is okay, I guess his zombies don't necessarily have the same pop out effect that Tony Moore has.

And of course, because I watched two episodes of Talespin today, I decided to draw Louie and reimagine him as a zombie. This sketch is actually a take 1 submission that I'm planning on submitting for the Talespin T-Shirt contest that the Talespin Animation Source is holding.

And who says I can't draw Zombies during class? ;)

Going back to college

In two days from now, I'm officially returning to my college in Nyack, NY. Can you believe that it's been officially 4 months since I finished up my first year of college there? To think, once I get back, I'll officially meet up with the friends that I've made. In the meantime, I'll be packing up and getting ready to return on Monday, to start my 2nd semester.

And before I return, I thought it would be appropriate to share some of this artwork that I've been drawing for the past 4 days. :)

Ah yes, Samurai Jack-- the only animated series, created by Gennedy Tartakovsky, to combine Asian Folklore with kickass animation. :D I still can't believe it's been 10 years since I first saw this series. It's been my favorite cartoon ever since! :) And yes, I heard that a movie is currently in the works; I will patiently wait for that fateful day to come when Samurai Jack puts an end to Aku's tyranny, once and for all. :D

Of course, I still can't forget my Bruce Timm influence; in which case, I drew Baby Doll from that very famous Batman: TAS episode, written by animation/comic book genius, Paul Dini. Eventually, I should try drawing the updated version from Batman Adventures.

And let's not forget that panic provoking pirate, Don Karnage! Since i haven't drawn any Talespin character in ages, I thought DK would be perfect for the occasion.

Yes, this is the same gremlin design as seen on James Silvani's Tumblr account. After giving the picture a closer examination, I realized that this hot gremlin serves as a homage to the Gremlin from the original Bugs Bunny cartoon, 'Fallin Hare', directed by Bob Clampett. Like much of James Silvani's art, this picture stuck out because of how elegant the form, style and wings look on her. I figured this hot gremlin drawing would serve as perfect practice when I draw Joy and her wings. :)

That's all for know, folks.

Iron Vulture take 3

Just another take of the Iron Vulture that I did last night. I'm starting to see the improvements in the design; I still need to work on the body, the rear tail, the ship's sides (composed of air balloons and propellers), and the front beak, located near the cockpit, etc.

All in all, I see some improvements with the ship. I'll continue with another take after I get some more work done with my comic (which I got another page done tonight).

Iron Vulture Take 2 and more...

I can't say that it's vast improvement, but two times' the charm. And so will be 3 times this week. I'm gonna be on vacation with my family starting tomorrow, and I'll be returning Sunday. So I might just not update my blog until I get back.

However, I may be in the mood to talk about current events and such in the animation and/or tv world, so stay tuned in the future for posts about current events. :)
Also, here's an extra bonus picture that I drew last night, off of Tyler Crook's art blog. :)

I gotta get back to my Trouble Shooters project so I can at least give it some more strides. This week, I'll try drawing Chris, Justin and the gang again.

Iron Vulture Take 1

Well, it's been an entire year since I sketched the Iron Vulture from Talespin (the last time I did, it was incredibly crappy). However, I consider this an improvement, line wise and perspective wise.

However, there's still a bunch of things I still need to work on:
-perspective
-shading
-form
-draw more shapes again.

Progress is progress, but drawing is always a work in progress.
