working hard as usual...

Ork, Glork N Spork storyboards

Once again, I found myself storyboarding another set sequences with my alien trio. I'm surprised that I'm actually getting this project moving  bit faster than before, considering that I haven't worked on it since January (before I picked it back up last week of course). Since these are just storyboards, I don't have to worry too much about keeping them spot on location 100% of the time, but I will need to make sure they're in the same idealistic staging when I actually draw the layouts.

still life
I wasn't too thrilled about how this picture came out, but I have to admit that it's not too bad. You can tell the flower from before is missing but that's because my eyes were too lazy from keeping up.

cross contouring again
This time I wanted to experiment with a little more complicated sheet so I can place more emphasis on which area needs the most shading.

dumping some more art...

 Jesus sketch
This is a sketch of Jesus Christ that I did for a friend. I'm not too happy with the way it came out, but it's not bad. I think my friend deserves a better Jesus sketch.

Alien Nation storyboards

I'm finally getting more storyboards done for my Alien Nation promo that I've been working on. Already, my aliens are possessing the necessary acting skills to get through their careers. XD

I got your back!
Just a BH drawing of some guy's back. It's nice to know that I'm getting a better hang on a person's human body better.

Obama sketch
This is a sketch of Obama that I drew to practice with the human head. Doesn't he look happy? ;)

 photo sketch

This is a crappy sketch of what I drew for my Studio Drawing 2 class. I feel like it should be redrawn for my class because I know I can do better.

pear sketch again
I decided to redraw my pears again because I wanted to experiment with distortion, shading and better capturing of my environment around what I'm drawing. You see, the background of the pear photo had shades of grayish white. Hopefully this is a much better improvement.

That's just it for now folks. Good night!

Diving into spring break!

 pear drawings
This is a pair of pears that I drew based off my Art Professor's website. Nice to know that my shading is getting better, but I think I may redraw this.

shapes practice
Again, I decided to redraw the shapes sketch so I can work on the details of each shape, based off the photo.

Burnes Hogarth arm
Nothing much to say about this; this was just for practice.

Rejected Mad Love Cover
As seen in the Bruce Timm edition of Modern Masters, this was one of the rejected covers for Mad Love and other stories. I felt compelled to draw this so I can take what I learned from my art class and apply it to this cover. I like how I got a good angle on Harley's figure-- though some things still need a bit work.

Haha! Gotta love the Joker's reaction XD

Mr Freeze sketch
Again, this image was also taken from Modern Master's interview with Bruce Timm.

Just looking from a glance, this piece almost looks perfect; but if you look closely in the Helmet area, you can tell one problematic error. I'm posting it here just to keep record of how I did.

But again, I like how I'm applying what I've learned from my art class and putting it into good use. It shows I'm really getting there. :)

Amelia meets Dexter
Hah! Like most of you youngsters growing up, I excessively watched Dexter's Lab. It was one of my favorite cartoons of all time. Here, he's encountering one of my own characters, Amelia Enmity and it seems that some old habits never die. ;)

However, I think Amelia could be better. Something about her legs don't seem to work. It's like, they're there, but they're not properly drawn in her skirt area.

Ork, Glork N Spork storyboards

Now that I have spring break, I can finally resume my storyboard work for my Alien Nation promo I intend to put together. I think this time, the trio are really starting to pop out. I mean look at the shadowing on the characters, it seems like they're really coming alive.

That's all for now folks. Until next time, stay sharp. ;)

art daze

 Lindsay/Lydia comic strip 2
Okay! This is my 2nd comic strip submission that I'm trying to submit in my college paper, featuring Lindsay and Lydia. Me and a friend were brainstorming ideas of what to go by in terms of submitting ideas based on events going on at my college. Here's hoping that it gets printed.

Pear Still Life
These are pear drawings that I did in order to practice value. I can't say that I'm really keen on these drawings. I may redraw the pair again to execute the value better.

Burnes Hogarth Abdominal drawings
These are two more abdominal drawings that I drew based off from the Burnes Hogarth anatomy book. It seems as though that I'm getting better with proportions so far and getting the abs at the right value. But it never hurts to draw them again.

some new stuff under the sun...

Burnes Hogarth hands
These are just some hand sketches that I did over the weekend. While some of the lines look bumpy on the top centered one, it shows that I have a good eye for form. The others look pretty natural so far, except for the thumb on the right.

 shading practice
Since my Professor wanted me to work on shading, I worked with this piece from my 'Drawing from Observation' book. I still think I'm having a tendency to rely on the lines, rather than space, but I'm starting to see some improvements.

Room sketch
This is a room inside the Bell Inn, apart of the college play that I am working on. Already, me and the director are starting to talk about scene direction and how we're going to move things forward during the performance.

column scene design
This is something that me and the director discussed, regarding how the scene changes overall. He assigned me to design a column/pillar that can change small aspects of scenary without having to move everything backstage. This can remain on the stage the whole time, while everything is moved around. Pretty interesting idea if I do say so myself.

Until next time, stay sharp.

First things first....before bed.

Still Life Practice Fruit
This is just a resketch of an old fruit piece that I drew last week. I wasn't too pleased with the results of the first one. I like this better.

shapes practice
This was also a 2nd take on a shape drawing that I did. I consider this an improvement from before because I'm less focused on drawing the lines and more focused on the shading and perspective.

Burnes Hogarth hands

I didn't have art class this week, so I took the liberty of practicing with hands so I could improve on drawing more parts of the body. I may continue practicing with legs if I have more time.

 Chuck Jones drawings
I've been doing a lot of reading on the history of animation, including from books like Chuck Amuck, so I decided to practice drawing some Chuck Jones style Looney Tunes. I think there's much that needs work on with the way I'm drawing them. I think I may focus more on the human figure before I dive back into drawing cartoons.

That's all for now folks.

 fruit drawing

These are two fruit drawings that I drew in order to practice with more value and edges rather than relying on lines all the time.

Burnes Hogarth legs

I really wanted to experiment with Burnes Hogarth legs before I started devouting myself to drawing real life legs, being that I haven't drawn enough legs before, I really wanted to get them down.

Getty image legs

And now that I'm finally getting the art of drawing legs down, my practice is paying off.

Oh no! A Bug! Get it off!
This is the first time I drew a bug, and continue practicing with value. This is pretty good for the first time. :)

That's all for now folks.
