Spectacular (Peter Park dressed up as) Spiderman

Once again, I have completed another submission for the College Paper that is attached to an article about a speaker who came to campus here at Nyack.

I really dig the inking job here, but I feel the face is too angular and needs more distinction of style and shape.

Thoughts?

Apology for my Leave of Absence...

You folks online are probably wondering why I haven't been actively blogging for the past month. Or perhaps you're wondering why there hasn't been any active art updates in the past week. Or perhaps you're wondering since Mayan's 2012 is around the corner, I decided  to celebrate early by pulling the plug.

The truth of the matter is that I've been extremely busy and haven't been able to post anything in a while.

But rest assured I kept myself pretty preoccupied for the past few weeks as I've been working like a horse on a HUUUMUNGOUS Old Testament comic for my OT class that I finished up recently. I must say that even though I don't consider it my best work yet, I consider it my better work than what I've done before.

So you're probably thinking-- why haven't you told us about it you quack? Well, it's because I wanted to keep it a surprise and show you all when the time was right. I decided that is what I'm going to do with a lot of future projects that I'm involved in. I won't say anything until I get my work done-- that way, you'll be more surprised.

However, I will keep updates on some projects like Alien Nation Church and perhaps some drawings for my original character, Amelia Enmity. But for long term projects like fan comics or commissions, or the like-- it's going to go private. Sorry folks, but I gotta do what I gotta do. As Andrew Stanton once commented (regarding the key ingredient of storytelling)-- you'll just have to work for your meals this time.

Peace out-- see you next update.

I'm really glad that these got published this Thanksgiving. Nothing new, but I'm grateful. :)

new comic strip...

Hey folks. Guess what? Lindsay and Lydia may be making their way back to the Nyack college paper. Down below is the new submission for the hopefully first ever comic strip for the fall...

In case you are wondering about the Amelia Enmity comic that I've been working on all month, that is almost done and I still need to finish inking it. I promise I will get it finished by this month.

Until then, peace out!

Getting back at school (but not in that vengeful sense)

This summer really has been full of twists and turns and a bunch of busy business that I've been attending. If you've been following this blog since day one, you're either psychotic killer stalking me, or a mastermind terrorist trying to hack my information, or just a good friend. It's okay...you don't have to answer immediately....and if you're still reading at this point, I'm just pulling your leg. ;)

Anyway, let me get right to the word of the week....Education-- the most powerful word in the english dictionary that you will ever get to know. It helps you stay informed with the topics that you are currently following after; it helps you learn more about the universe and why it began; it helps analyze a classic scene in a Disney movie, animated by Milt Kahl; it even helps you get your good throwing stone prepared when you want to stone Pat Robertson for making another false predictions. ;)

As a young and aspiring college student, entering my Junior year in college, I am finally realizing my potential and following after my dreams and leaving stepping stones behind for other future students to follow.

This whole past week has been me rediscovering Technology, Literature, the Arts, History and much more. And while I embark on this magnificent quest for knowledge, it will to the prize that I so long sought-- my own conclusion.

Forming your own conclusions is the most wonderful achievement that a person can ever accomplish in life. It may not get you an Oscar, or get you a Eisner Award, or an Emmy, but it will lead you to the person you anxiously long to be.

And I personally thank God that I'm still alive and developed my own views within the past few years. I really hope the next few years down the road will be more rewarding in my educational journey...hey, for most people it will never end.

Back to school!

Hey folks. I just returned to Nyack college for another fall semester of fun and education, and I just uploaded the next assignment for the latest character mentor webinar I will be partaking on thursday. Behold the latest and greatest character for this assignment...Trusty.
Mr. Bancroft wanted us to interpret a character idea for a fictional company that he's working for and wanted to see how we worked with it.

Now that that's out of the way, I need to focus on reorganizing my room and get stuff prepared for this year.

But I will get back to you asap on my reflections.

Hello...are you happy people of Gotham?

 Droopy Bane
He is here to fulfill Tex Avery's destiny!

That's really just about it. I have nothing else to say being that I am returning to school in about a few days. I hope to blog about that in the next few days.

Pubilcation!!!

Well, you guys heard me talk about what I've done back in my Creative Writing class, and I finally got something published-- my short story about the Man with no Man. You've read it before. You, so if you want to, read it again. :)

 Art publication too!
Yup-- my crappy film noir piece got a taste of publication too. Crappy as it may be, I'm glad I got some form of publication.

That's all for now folks.

Enjoy!

tonight's updates...

 Forest sketch

This is a sketch of a Forest that I did for someone. While I won't give too many details away, I will hint at the following: It has to do with the next semester of school.

Also, I am pleased to announce the inclusion of a new article that I had submitted to my college paper, The Forum...

It's a Wonderful Life Movie review
For those who keep up with this blog, I think you already knew that I had been working on an article for the Forum (aside from the Tad Stones interview). However, there was one shred of detail that seems to be missing. While it is concerning, I'll hold my judgement until the next meeting of the Forum and ask questions at that time-- which is this January.

Until then, Peace, Love and Dope. ;)

One more time now!

Bad Weather take 3

Once again, I decided to redraw this one more time at the request from one of my friends from the Forum at my college. She wanted me to take out the wordy dialogue on the left because she felt that I didn't need to explain the scenario-- rather, just let the scenery speak for itself. I see why because if I explained why the scenario looks like this, even if it's visually obvious, it doesn't let the gag naturally show what is happening.

I think I'm starting to get better at my skills now that I'm practicing with the same scene now. Still, her body could've been a little better. Again, I'm gonna need to work with with Amelia Enmity some more in the future.

All in all, good job. :)

Weird Weather post!

*prepares singing voice*

On the first day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me...a weather gag with Amelia Enmity.

Just a little surprise for the next cartoon gag that I'm submitting to the forum. I wish I had changed the shadowing on the snow, but all in all, not bad.

This is to tackle the issue of the weird weather that the college has been experiencing lately-- such as snow in October, Heavy Rain weeks later, sunny days right before winter, etc. Pretty weird, huh?
